This simplified classical approach to Hijama Cupping Therapy and Traditional Islamic Prophetic Medicine in general, has been compiled with the goal of helping the student as well as the seeker of knowledge. It provides:

A. Clear understanding of the soul of traditional Islamic Prophetic medicine void of any heresies of the secular belief, and

B. Clear understanding of how Islamic Prophetic medicine was practiced by strictly sticking to:

1. The first source of revelation in Islam, the speech of Allah ﷻ  Azza-Wa-Jal, The Glorious Quran, and

Foundational Hadiths

Amr ibn Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “Know that whoever revives a tradition from my Sunnah if it has died out after me, he will have a reward like those who act upon it without diminishing any of their rewards. Whoever innovates a misguided heresy not pleasing to Allah and His messenger, he will have a sin like those who act upon it without diminishing any of the people’s burdens.” Sunnan At-Tirmidhi 2677

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment." Sahih al-Bukhari 5678

Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “Every disease has a cure. If a cure is applied to the disease, it is relieved by the permission of Allah Almighty.” Sahih Al-Muslim 2204

The prophet (ﷺ) said: “I did not pass by an Angel from the Angels on the Nigh Journey except that they all said to me; ‘Upon you is cupping (hijama), O Muhammad’” Sunan Ibn Majah 3477

Abu Hurairah (r.a) reported that the Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Whoever performs cupping (hijama) on the 17th, 19th or 21st day (of the Islamic, lunar month) then it is a cure for every disease.” Sunan Abu Dawud 3861

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “If there is anything good in the medicines with which you treat yourselves, it is in the incision of the hijama therapist, or a drink of honey….” Muslim 2205

He (ﷺ) said: “Cupping is the most helpful procedure for human beings to cure themselves.” Sahih al-Bukhari 5357
